Mr. Collins is a literature and AP Seminar teacher here at IA. He grew up in Atlanta and as a student he was an avid reader and writer, as well as a “very average basketball player”. This year, Mr. Collins has enjoyed the enthusiasm and spirited conversations of his students, such as the debates on the ethics of eating dry cereal. One interesting thing about Mr. Collins is that he finished second to last in the 2002 Atlanta Marathon. He describes the experience as “rain, knees, and bad”. Mr. Collins encourages everyone to read more literature and recommends The Great Gatsby. He says, “the best book encourages you to read more books.” Teachers and students around IA have many terrific things to say about Mr. Collins. Nicolas Maroto Kips, an AP Seminar student, describes Mr. Collins as “an amazing, motivational teacher”. Mr. Wallace, the head of the Social Studies department, shares that Mr. Collins is a “sagacious man with an air of gravitas”.
