Happy Friday IA families,

I am happy to be back in the building and working with our students. I had the chance to teach an IT session today, and I am reminded again of how amazing our students are. You should all be very proud of the young adults your kids are becoming.

I encourage you to ask your student about RISE, a great program Ms. Browning and her team have implemented that focuses on instilling the IA Way in all aspects of school life. We had a great kick off program where our student leaders shared the program with our student body.

We are also happy to see our students engaging with athletics at their home school. If your student has a big game or event, please let us know, so we can get the IA community to root them on. In that vein, I wanted to let everyone know, the district has approved IA students participation in all extracurricular activities at their home schools, as long as IA does not offer the same program or activity. We are still in the process of working out the logistics, but I wanted to share. As this will likely dramatically increase the number of participants, I want to manage expectations and let you all know now that we will not be able to change student schedules for extracurricular activities. Doing so would cause unmanageable stress to our programming and schedule.

Finally, I hope you all can join us for our virtual Open House. I recognize many parents would have liked the opportunity to meet in person with your student’s teachers. We will always grapple with access for our student body that spans such a large geographic reason. After feedback from last year’s virtual Open House, we have determined that having an asynchronous event will give the best access to our community. You may always follow up the event with an email to your teachers if you have additional questions.

Wishing everyone a happy long weekend.
