Happy Friday IA Families,

Thank you to all the families that were able to make it to our College Fair. It was an informative event with great information for students and parents. It was nice to see the juniors walk away with new schools and programs to explore.

Please keep an eye out for the 4.5 Week grades posted to the Portal on September 16. As students readjust to school, they often struggle with grades early in the year. While there is plenty of time to pull these grades up, it’s a good indicator if a student needs additional supports, so if the school and family are on the same page, we’ll have the best chance of helping the student succeed.

An article came out in several local news outlets that focused on the ongoing construction on campus. The article expressed concerns about our building’s integrity. I want to assure you all that Fulton County Schools is working very closely with the construction companies to ensure the building is safe. My administration reviews construction weekly with the district and construction company, and we are not seeing any problems beyond the basic remedial work necessary, and at no point has the building been unsafe for our students. I’ll continue to keep you updated with any new information. As for now, we are still on target to complete construction by mid-December.

On a note that is near and dear to my heart, Mr. G, our amazing cafeteria manager, has our coffee machine up and running every morning. As a service to the community, I have tried the coffee on multiple occasions, and it is exceptional. I’d also like to thank our student government for volunteering to make sure we have the coffee shop open every morning.

Sincerely,

Scott Kent
