GT Block students used Arduinos to learn how they can combine a computer program with a circuit that they build. For IT teachers in the GT block, the goal is to inspire their students to think creatively about how they may prototype solutions when they begin their design thinking project.

Arduinos are small computer chips that students are connecting and programming in class. They use a breadboard, which is a platform to prototype their build, in order to connect wires for complete circuits. GT Block teachers discussed with students the flow of electricity, the importance of resistors and transistors, and the voltage to power their creations. All GT Block students have been working to create a spinning motor by connecting a computer program to the physical Arduino, and some have even added LED lights that turn on and off with the push of a button.
