Good afternoon everyone,

I don’t want to brag, but I’m kind of a star now.

I had the opportunity to present to the Fulton County School Board this week to walk through the program review from the district looking at Innovation Academy, Global Impact Academy, and Fulton Academy of Virtual Excellence.

I wanted to share both their findings and the steps we are taking to address the concerns.

We are a unique school, and while the staff and students have done amazing work these first years, we’ll continue to look critically at our offerings and continue to seek ways to improve.

Here is a link to the board video. We are presenting during the first item. It’s important to recognize that Dr. Newbold is extremely tall.

I got several positive responses from parents about the article I sent last week. I won’t do this weekly, but when I see something that resonates with me as both a principal and as a parent of a teenager, I will use this post to share.

This article is really for adults focused on finding momentum when you feel frozen, but I think it’s a great article for our kids who can also find themselves stuck, whether it is from a project that is asking more of them than they have given before or a class that they have fallen behind in.

As the grading period is ending, students might need some concrete steps to take to start taking positive action again.

Sincerely,

Scott Kent

Principal Educator
