Let’s meet some of them:

IA swimmers and their home school:

Samaya Reddy-Alpharetta High School

Julia Jobmann – Chattahoochee High school

Marek Applin-Centennial High School

Tell us about your achievement this season:

Julia: This season I swam on the Chattahoochee team. I also participated in the county and the state meets. At state, our team won first place, which hasn’t happened in over fifteen years.

Marek: I won state for the 200 medley relay in the 4 and 5 A division

How long have you been competing in this sport?

Samaya Reddy:  I’ve been swimming since I was 4 years old

Julia: I have been swimming competitively for six years now.

Marek: I’ve been swimming for 6 years

Why do you swim?

Samaya: I like swim because I’ve always loved the pool and being in the water, so it’s kind of calming and exciting for me to swim on a team and be with my friends!

Julia: I love swimming because it challenges me mentally and physically. It is such a good feeling to set hard goals, work for them and reach them. Swimming is a great outlet to build community and to create many character traits such as determination, grit, and resilience.

Marek: I swim because of the friends I have at swim and I enjoy competing.
