Dear IA families,

I always like to share exciting or celebratory news here, but today I need to share an oversight we have made.

As you know, this year we are planning to host a prom on Friday, April 21.

While we are excited for this experience, I realize the date conflicts with Eid al-Fitr, a holy day for Muslims. This is a clear oversight on my part, and I apologize. Going forward, we have put a system in place to ensure that all major events that are sponsored by the school will not conflict with any major holidays for any religion. If there is ever an unavoidable conflict, I will make every effort to communicate the complication in advance to avoid another situation like this one.

Having a prom this year was a very difficult decision, as we do not have a senior class, and therefore have limited funding to host a prom. The main reason we moved prom to a Friday was to have an affordable option for Prom this year. And unfortunately, because of our reduced funding and the full booking of venues, we are not able to move the event this year.

I am truly sorry for the disruption that this has caused.

Thank you and I wish everyone a good weekend.

Scott Kent
