Good afternoon IA families,

Wow. What a week! We finished tours for our incoming students and are eagerly awaiting a chance to welcome our new IA students in the weeks ahead.

We are working to finalize our hiring needs for next year, and I have been incredibly impressed with the caliber of teachers and staff that we are bringing on board.

The annual perception survey is mandated through the district. My staff and I will use this data to ensure we are meeting the needs of our community. The survey closes soon, and we absolutely need to have all parents participate. We are currently at 11%.

Finally, today was our second career fair event, Cultivate. What a resounding success! Our building was filled with professionals, many of our parents and business partners, who were working with students to build the skills they need to be successful as they move on to college and the careers beyond. Our teachers hosted sessions to refine resumes, give students insight into career options from their pathways. They learned about entrepreneurial enterprise, time management, result-oriented resumes, financial literacy, social media as resumes, and a hundred other sessions that were incredible. Our students left the day with a resume and a digital portfolio, and had the opportunity to interview with our partners.

I want to thank all the volunteers who helped us make this happen. We couldn’t have done it without the support of our PTSO, Pam Whitlock, Laura Taylor, Martha Bongiorno, and countless teachers and staff who helped us put this together.

This was a collective vision from the staff, and they far exceeded any expectations I had. I have been in education for 25 years, and I have not ever seen an event like this.

It is an incredible community we are building.
