Personal Fitness Waiver now available

Students can now waive out of the Personal Fitness course if they have participated in a GHSA (Georgia High School Association) sport at their home school or in a non-GHSA Physical Fitness activity in the community. Students will not earn a half course credit for Personal Fitness; however, the Personal Fitness graduation requirement will be satisfied through their participation in these extracurricular activities.

The deadline to submit the Personal Fitness Waiver Form and get approval is by the end of junior year spring semester. There is an exception for the students in the Class of 2024. Those students have until September 30th, 2023, to complete the waiver and get approval.

Instructions for applying for the Personal Fitness Waiver are on the counseling website: https://www.counseling.fcsia.com/personal-fitness-waiver.

An example of some activities that qualify for the Personal Fitness Waiver include:

  • One Season of a GHSA sport like golf, tennis, football, baseball, soccer, etc.
  • One Season of a non-GHSA sport like dance at a local dance studio, fencing or cricket at IA, martial arts training, USTA tennis, etc.
