Information Technology

GT Block:  Our GT Block students have been busy, busy, busy this week.  They finished their jukebox app with customized music.  Ask them to play you a tune!  The students also spent a few days focusing on hardware.  They learned about the different components of a computer as well as got their hands dusty by taking apart old computers.  And, yes, they put them back together again!

AP Computer Science Principles:  We wrapped up our unit on Safe Computing this week by tackling Public Key Encryption and Digital Signatures.  Ask the students about the components involved in creating a digital signature.  Just don’t be surprised if they mention Batman and Robin in their explanation.  We used the Dynamic Duo to illustrate the process of safely and securely sending messages on the internet.  The students had their unit test on Thursday and those grades should be going into Infinite Campus soon.  Next week, we will be back to coding.

Over the next week, students will be asked to select their elective courses for next year.

  • Current GT Block students can choose from the following IT courses for next year:  AP Computer Science Principles, Introduction to Cybersecurity or Networking Fundamentals.
  • Current AP Computer Science Principles can choose from the following IT courses for next year:  AP Computer Science A, Game Design, Embedded Computing, Introduction to Cybersecurity or Networking Fundamentals.

Curriculum night videos cover an overview of all IT pathways as well as a specific video for each course.  For more information, please contact Pam Whitlock at whitlock@fultonschools.org
