Principal Message – 4/15/22

New Mascot – The Phoenix

The Phoenix mascot, designed by sophomore Lakshana Ramanan was unveiled by IA’s NEW PRINCIPAL, Scott Kent at Phoenix Fest in front of almost 2,000 attendees.  Hosted by the PTSO, it was an amazing event that combined eating, games, music, pathway showcases, t-shirts, and tours to current and forthcoming students and families.  It was an amazing community event that was entirely planned by our PSTO and will surely become a highly anticipated spring tradition.

Innovation Academy’s New Principal – Scott Kent

As a leader in Design Thinking, Scott Kent is a great choice to lead the vision at IA.  Mr. Kent was actually involved in the school’s planning almost 5 years ago and has been instrumental in launching every aspect of IA. Knowing that my retirement was coming, I have ensured that Mr. Kent would be well prepared to take the reigns to ensure that IA students lead the way in Technology, Healthcare, and Engineering.  Surrounded by an elite staff, a supportive community, and driven students – I have no doubts about where IA is heading.

IA Ted Talks

IA Ted Talks are one of our many highlights.  We’ve had leaders speak from the American Red Cross, Air Methods (Trauma Transport), and Johnson & Johnson Global Public Health to represent Healthcare Flex Fridays.  Within IT, we hosted the UN Sustainable Development, Music Technology with GA Tech, Egnyte (data security), and ADP (Artificial Intelligence).  Within engineering leaders from Cooper Carey, Barton Marlow, and other engineers.  On April 29th, we’re excited to host Alex Gonzalez who serves as the Chief Innovation Officer from the Metro Atlanta Chamber.  To prepare tomorrows leaders, we must expose our students to todays leaders, corporate experiences, and robust projects and curriculum.  Let’s finish Phoenix strong.
