Summer is Time to Prepare!

The first semester of a student’s senior year is a whirlwind of activity applying to college. Summer is the perfect time to prepare for and learn about the college application process. Don’t wait for August!

Educate Yourself

Take advantage of free classes and for fee advisement on college planning over the summer. We’ve posted information from Innovation Academy partners and other organizations on our counseling website – https://www.counseling.fcsia.com/college-events.

Some options on our events page include:

· College Admission Planning Sessions Sponsored by University of Chicago

· Coalition for College Information Sessions

· Princeton Review Summer College Planning, Essay Writing, and Test Prep

· Peachtree College Planning Summer Series

· Opportunity to apply for the Smith College Women of Distinction fully funded overnight campus visit.

Complete Senior Tasks We just introduced our new Senior Advisement page – https://www.counseling.fcsia.com/senior-advisement. We’ll be posting senior tasks you need to complete throughout your senior year. This summer, start with these three tasks:

Task 1: Complete the About Me form so counselors and teachers can learn more about you for when they write recommendation letters. The About Me form is due August 31st, 2023. Letters of recommendations for counselors and teachers must be requested a minimum of 10 working business days before the deadline.

Task 2: Explore the Common and Coalition app website. Get started on one of those two apps. Task 3: Familiarize yourself with the information found on our College and Career webpage.

To find the Senior Advisement webpage, start with our Academics page (https://www.counseling.fcsia.com/academics) and then click on Senior Advisement.
