Innovation Academy’s National Honor Society is starting off the year. The students are excited to be the inaugural NHS graduating class.
New Membership
All juniors and seniors (that are not already members) with an unweighted GPA of 92 or above received an application to join NHS in their student e-mail account on August 25th. The deadline to submit the completed application will be September 20, 2023, at 4:15 pm. Once the application is submitted, the applications are reviewed by a faculty committee. Students will then be notified of the decision.
Current Membership
Students that applied and were accepted into membership last year and completed all required service hours do not need to apply for membership again. Your membership rolls over into your senior year. If you are not sure if you completed the service requirements, please see Ms. Hemphill or an NHS Officer.
Meetings
This year NHS will have monthly meetings, and students will have the option to attend either in the morning (8:15 – 8:45) or in the afternoon (4:15 – 4:45) depending on their schedules.

Committees
Each member has selected to be a member of one or more service committees to earn service hours. The schedule for each committee meeting varies depending on members availability. This year’s committees are Reading with a Purpose, IA Thrift, Wild World, or Shoot for the Stars.
Traditions
Additionally, we are trying to start some traditions for NHS at Innovation Academy. If you were a member when you were in high school and you have some to share, let Ms. Hemphill know.
