- September 24, 2023 – Last day to submit your teacher and counselor recommendation request through Common App and expect the college to receive the recommendation letter on time.

- Submit your counselor and teacher recommendation letter request through Common App 15 business-days in advance.
How do I request a teacher recommendation?
- Ask your teacher now if they are willing to write you a recommendation letter.
- Once they say yes, make your request in Common App right now so your teacher has plenty of time to write and submit your recommendation. They will receive an email notification from Common App to submit the letter.
- Do not wait to submit your application before you make your recommendation request in Common App.
- Make sure you completed the About Me form giving your teacher and counselor information about you so they can write a letter for you. How do I request a counselor recommendation?
- Your counselor is expecting to write recommendation letters for their students. You do not need to meet with your counselor face-to-face or send an email. Make your request through Common App and your counselor will receive an email notification of your request.
- Do not wait to submit your application before you make your recommendation request in Common App.
- Make sure you completed the About Me form giving your teacher and counselor information about you so they can write a letter for you. Can I submit my application if I’ve finished my part, but my status shows that my SAT/ACT scores and my recommendation letters haven’t been submitted yet?
- If you’ve already requested your counselor’s/teacher’s name through the app, go ahead and submit your application even if your recommendation letters and test scores aren’t showing complete. Don’t forget to request your test scores through ACT and College Board.
When should I finish and submit my application?
- Even though the deadline is Oct. 15th for UGA and Oct. 16th for GT, complete and submit your application by Oct. 11th. You never know what’s going to happen with technology. There could be a power outage. You could have an issue with your computer. Your Wi-Fi could go out. Do NOT wait until the last minute.
How do I request my ACT And SAT test scores?
- You will need to request your ACT scores directly from ACT and your SAT scores directly from the College Board. Google “MyACT account” to find the login to request your ACT scores, and Google “SAT scores request” to find the login to request your SAT scores.
How do I request my transcript?
- If you are applying through the Common App, Black Common App, or Coalition App (SCOIR), you do not need to request a transcript. Your counselor will be notified by the system that they need to upload your transcript.
- If you are applying through GAFutures, you can request your transcript through GAFutures.
- If you are not using one of the methods listed above, or are applying to a program or scholarship, request your transcript through ScribOrder – https://www.counseling.fcsia.com/request-for-records.
When can I begin my FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) form?
- In previous years, the FAFSA opened in October, but the FAFSA won’t be available this year until December. Keep visiting the Federal Student Aid website for updates. https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa
