Happy Friday everyone,

Dr. Looney communicated clearly about the current crisis in the Middle East, but I’d like to take a moment to thank our students for their continued support of a positive learning environment.

As many of you know, there was an elevated concern because of several social media posts about a call to violence.

Throughout the day the administration, staff, and school police were vigilant to ensure we did not have any disruptions. I am very proud that throughout the day, we did not see any negative impact from the social media posts.

Your students and our staff have developed a culture of active support for one another.

Seeing the positive attitude and interactions of our students renewed my confidence that our students will help us build a better world together.

I do want to encourage you to let us know if your students is struggling with the recent events in the Middle East, so that we can provide the necessary support for them at school. I also encourage you to talk to them about the negative impact that social media can have in times of crisis where the most sensational and often inaccurate posts are shared quickly.

While social media is an important part of most of our students’ lives, minimizing exposure to these posts can be helpful.

If at any point there is something we can do to support your students during these difficult times, please let me know.
