Happy Friday, IA Families!
We would like to extend a warm welcome to our new METI, Mrs. Whitney (Beem) Beck. Mrs. Beem comes to us from Hopewell Middle School and is a former HMS Professional of the Year (2018) and was also named FCS “METI of the Year” in 2021.
Whitney (Beem) Beck is a graduate of Kennesaw State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Middle Grade Education, Math and Science, as well as a Masters in Instructional Technology and a certificate from University of West Georgia for Media Specialist. After teaching 8th grade Physical Science at both River Trail MS and Hopewell MS, Mrs. Beem decided to become the METI at Hopewell to expand upon her love of literacy and to encourage student creativity in the Makerspace. After 12 years at Hopewell, Mrs. Beem is excited to begin work with the high schoolers here at IA.
When she is not found reading or listening to an audiobook, Mrs. Beem can be found with her husband and 7- and 5-year-old boys. When she is not attempting to understand Minecraft and her boys’ obsession, she can be found hiking, building puzzles, or working out before work at D1.
