Timi Akinyele & Sydney Clark: American Legion Post 201 Scholarships

Two of our students won scholarships on January 6th in the American Legion Post 201 Oratorical Contest. The competition required each student to give two speeches. Students prepared an 8-10 minute speech on the topic of duties and obligations of citizens to the government. The second speech was randomly chosen based on one of four preselected amendments to the U.S. Constitution and required a 3-5 minute speech.

Congratulations to Sydney Clark, who was the 3rd place winner. She won a $500 scholarship check for her speech, which was titled “Underneath Red, White & Blue.”

Congratulations to Timi Akinyele, who took first place in the competition and won a $1,000 scholarship check with his speech titled “The Unseen Epidemic of Disinformation.” Timi will advance to the next level of competitions, and we wish him the best of luck!
