Effective July 1, 2021, all students 16 years of age and older who are entering 11th grade must receive a booster dose of meningococcal conjugate (MCV4) vaccine, unless their initial dose was administered on or after their 16th birthday.

If your rising 11th grader has turned 16 or will be turning 16 over the summer, they must receive this vaccine.

If you have not yet scheduled your child’s booster shot, please put this on your to-do list. It is a requirement for all 11th grade students and must be completed by the time your child starts 11th grade. I’m sending this note out now so you can find the most convenient time to schedule an appointment that meets your insurance company and doctor’s office requirements for vaccines and wellness visits.

Your child’s immunization certificate may say that s/he is complete for 7th grade or higher, but the requirements have changed. Your child’s Certificate 3231 must say that it is complete for 11th grade or higher.

When your child’s booster is done, please complete the Immunization Completion Form. You just need to provide your child’s name and birthdate. The registrar will check GRITS for an up-to-date Form 3231.
