Happy Friday IA families,

This week went fast! Our students have been hard at work getting ready for the end of the semester.

Mamma Mia!

I wanted to take a quick minute to thank Ms. Holland and our drama club for putting on an incredible show, Mamma Mia! I had the opportunity to watch the show last night, and our students did amazingly. I am always impressed that our students, who work so hard on their academics, also find time to celebrate their passions. Thank you to everyone who was involved in the show for your hard work. If you haven’t been able to see it yet, I encourage you to find the time to check it out this weekend. You can see showtimes and get tickets here.

UGA Admissions

We know our students are doing good work at IA, but it’s nice when sometimes we have external data to support what we intrinsically know to be true.

UGA announced their early admissions over the break, and we did well.

While the credit really goes to our students’ hard work, I’d also like to recognize the hard work that our counseling department and Ms. McKenzie in our College and Career Center have done to make sure universities know who we are.

Here is breakdown of our UGA acceptances:

Total number of students that applied to UGA 138 of 271 (That is 51% of our graduating class!)

Total # Applied for Early Action – 133

Total # Accepted – 83 (62% admitted)

Total # Deferred – 39 (29% deferred)

Total # Denied – 11 (8% denied)

Total number of admitted students accepted into the honors college – 35 (42% accepted in honors college)

This means that over 30% of our entire senior class was accepted by UGA through early action and 13% of our entire class was accepted into the honors college.

These are incredible results and validate the programming we are offering at IA.

Thank you as always for your support.
